August 20, 2010 Container Show
The Women's Caucus for Arts Container Show was held at the Annex Gallery at Core New Art Space, 900 Santa Fe Drive, in Denver. The opening reception was for Friday, August 20th, from 6 -9 PM. Congratulations to Claudia Roulier for her "Best of Show" award at this annual event!
To participate in any shows you must be a current member of WCA. See our membership page for more info.
The Colorado Chapter of Women’s Caucus for Art proposes a group show of a selection of their members in the gallery. These artists would show 2-D and 3-D artwork that incorporates anything with a literal or implied inside and outside, in other words a container. This allows for the inclusion of (or images of) houses, boxes, shrines, drawers, cups, vessels, clothing and even the human body; and interpretive pieces that can venture into ideas of the internal and the external. It also can allow for depictions and questions regarding the container itself and the nature of its separating edge. A variety of mediums, such as painting, printmaking, photography, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, and handmade books could be included. Artwork would run the gamut from serious and political, to frivolous and whimsical, plus entertain both adult and children's audiences.
